PHILADELPHIA– The University of Pennsylvania women's tennis team competed in the Ivy ITA Conference Masters in Cambridge, Mass. this weekend.
 
On Friday, Sarah Wang, Liza Tkachenko, Lara Stojanovski and Varsha Vedula competed in singles. Tkachenko and Stojanovski also teamed up in doubles, along with Esha Velaga and Joleen Saw. Tkachenko won her first round matchup against Cornell's Andrea Martinez before falling to Lauren Han of Dartmouth in the round of 64. Esha Velaga and Joleen Saw defeated Elise Wong and Brooke Hess of Dartmouth as they advanced to the quarterfinals.

On Saturday, the doubles team of Velaga/Saw defeated Aggarwal/Ha (Yale) in the quarterfinals and Yakoff/Karra (Harvard) in the semifinals as they advanced to the championship match. Two out of three Quakers won in their singles backdraw matches as Wang defeated Anne Moody (Brown) and Varsha Vedula defeated Emma Baker (Cornell). The doubles championship match will take place Sunday, Oct. 26.

On Sunday, Velaga/Saw fell to Harvard's Charlotte Owensby and Claire Shao in the championship doubles match (7-6, 6-2) as the tournament came to an end. Owensby and Shao will represent the Ivy League in the ITA Conference Masters Championships doubles. The tournament will be held in San Diego, Calif. from Thursday, Nov. 6 until Sunday, Nov. 9.
