PHILADELPHIA – The University of Pennsylvania fencing programs open the 2025-26 season this weekend, heading across Philly for the Temple Open Oct. 25-26.

*Penn returns a stacked lineup to the strips this season, including All-Ivy honorees Nicholas Jin and Joseph Wu, NCAA qualifiers Leah Blum and Victoria Kuznetsov, and NCAA All-Americans Antonio Heathcock and Simon Kushkov.
 
*At the 2024 Temple Open, NCAA Champion Bryce Louie won gold at foil, while Nicholas Wu (foil) and J. Wu (epee) earned tied for third at their weapons.
 
*On the women's side Polina Kharchyna landed silver in epee in her collegiate debut, while Katina Proestakis Ortiz claimed a tied for third in foil.
 
*Sophomore Jin, senior Kushkov, and junior N. Wu will serve as captains for the men's team, while junior Blum, Malak Hamza, and Grace Hu will be the leaders for the women's team.
 
*The women welcome newcomers in Victoria Amore, Eda Cevikol, Misha Gujja, Kimberley Jang, Boryana Mitova, Lila Paul, Cathleen Shi, and Sophia Zheng, while the men welcome Simon Lioznyansky, Conrad Lo, Alexander Moses, and Alexander Wu to the piste for the 2025-26 season.
