PHILADELPHIA– The University of Pennsylvania women's tennis team had a very successful day two of the ITA Northeast Regional on Friday Oct. 10.
Three out of four Quaker doubles teams won their matches in the main doubles draw.
Maya Urata and
Joleen Saw defeated Tuffs/Cunningham (Saint Francis), 8-4.
Varsha Vedula and
Sarah Wang secured a win against Brown/Mercier (Mercyhurst), 8-3.
Esha Velaga and
Lara Stojanovski won against Fares/Charles (Stonybrook), 8-2.
The Red and Blue swept the competition in the main singles draw, winning all of their five matches.
Velaga defeated Noemi Babikova (Saint John's), 6-2, 6-2.
Saw and Vedula followed up their dominant performances yesterday, beating LIU's Mia Tsoukalas and Penn State's Olivia Dorner.
Finally, Stojanovski and Urata rounded out the day with wins against Saint Johns' Victoria Papadopoulou and Drexel's Sofia Snitko.
