Wrestling Heads to Empire State for Duals With Columbia (Fri), Hofstra (Sun)

PHILADELPHIA – The University of Pennsylvania wrestling team is back in action this weekend, opening Ivy League action at Columbia on Friday, Jan. 24, at 7 p.m. and wrapping up the weekend at Hofstra on Sunday, Jan. 26, with a 12 p.m. battle.

*Penn is coming off a 4-1 outing in the Hawkeye State, picking up wins over Ohio (38-9), Sacred Heart (41-3), Drexel (30-12), Wyoming (26-14) at the Elite Duals.
 
*Senior Ryan Miller (133) went 4-0 in Cedar Falls, outscoring his opponents 39-1 in his four matches, topping Ohio's TJ England by tech fall (18-1), #14 South Dakota State's #21 Derrick Cardinal by major decision (8-0), Drexel's Kyle Waterman by decision (4-0), and Wyoming's Stockton O'Brien by major decision (9-0).
 
*Freshmen Nate Taylor (184) and Jackson Zimmerman (197) won their first collegiate duals against Sacred Heart.
 
*Head Coach Roger Reina won his 250th dual meet in Iowa, with the victory over the Bobcats marking the milestone.
 
*Seven Quakers landed rankings in the NCAA Division I coaches rankings, announced by the conference on Thursday, with Nick Incontrera (174) leading the charge at #6. #10 CJ Composto (141), #16 Cross Wasilewski (149), #16 Jude Swisher (157), #18 Maximus Hale (184), #19 Miller, and #23 Max Gallagher (125) round out the Red and Blue in the rankings.
 
*Penn will potentially face two ranked opponents this weekend, with Columbia bringing #33 Richard Fedalen (149) into Friday's matchup and Hofstra bringing #32 Kyle Mosher (165) into Sunday's battle.
