PHILADELPHIA – The University of Pennsylvania men's tennis team opened the 2025 portion of its schedule with two wins, defeating Navy (6-1, 7-0) in both matches of their doubleheader at the Hecht Tennis Center.

The Quakers took care of business in the first leg of the doubleheader, winning by a score of 6-1.
 
On the doubles side, Penn won 2-0. In their first match of the season together, Shaurya Bharadwaj / Manfredi Graziani defeated Navy's Aniketh Ayinala / Jeffrey Etterbeek, 6-3. No. 74 Parashar Bharadwaj / Tal Goodman continued their winning streak with a 6-2 win.
 
In singles, the Red and Blue only dropped one match with none going to a third set. Freshmen Justin Chung, who went 4-1 at the Colorado Cup to end his fall season, set the tone and picked up the first singles win for Penn. Matthew Rutter dominated in his match at the No. 6 slot, only dropping three games. At No. 1, Graziani hung on in the first set against Herrick Legaspi before cruising to a two-set victory.
 
Penn one-upped their morning performance in the afternoon, winning all seven matches.
 
The duo of Graziani / Shaurya Bharadwaj set the tone again in doubles, winning the first match, 6-2. Aaron Sandler / Sanjeev Chundu secured the doubles point for the Quakers.
 
In the No. 1 slot, Graziani dropped only two games en-route to Penn's first victory. Shaurya Bharadwaj followed it up with a 6-0, 6-1 win at No. 3. Goodman bounced back in the afternoon, winning a tight contest over Legaspi, 7-5, 6-4.
