PHILADELPHIA – The nationally ranked University of Pennsylvania fencing programs open 2025 action this weekend, hosting the Philadelphia Invitational at the Tse Center on Saturday, Jan. 18, and Sunday, Jan. 19.

*The #7 men look to continue their hot start to the year, going 6-1 at the Elite Invitational back in November.
*The Quakers dominated the saber action last time they were on the piste, with junior
Simon Kushkov going 3-0 against Cleveland State and North Carolina and sophomore
Gian Dhingra recording a 3-recorded against North Carolina and Notre Dame.
*The #7 women bring a 6-2 record into this weekend's competition. Senior
Katina Proestakis Ortiz led the pack in foil at the Elite Invite, tallying an 18-3 record, the highest on the squad.
*Sophomore
Katherine Andres steered the way in saber for the women, going 11-4 overall with sweeps against Cleveland State and Ohio State.
The Field
The Quakers will host Cornell, Duke, FDU, Haverford, Johns Hopkins, Lafayette, NJIT, NYU, North Carolina, Notre Dame, Penn State, Princeton, Ohio State, Sacred Heart, Temple, Wagner, and Yale at the Tse Center this weekend.
