PHILADELPHIA – The University of Pennsylvania men's lacrosse team once again heads into the 2025 season ranked in the
USA Lacrosse Magazine Division I Men's Preseason Top 20.
Penn landed 12th in the preseason poll after ending the 2024 campaign with a 9-6 record, going 4-2 in Ivy League play and winning five games against ranked opponents. The Quakers advanced to the Ivy League Tournament final, losing to Princeton, and for the second straight season just missed out on an NCAA Championship bid.

The Quakers boast plenty of talent at both ends of the field. Defender
Brendan Lavelle was a consensus first-team All-America last season while goalkeeper
Emmet Carroll was a consensus second-team All-America. Offensively, Penn returns its top four and five of its top six scorers from a year ago, led by seniors
Tynan Walsh (23g-22a—45 points),
Ben Smith (28-9—37) and
Cam Rubin (31-4—35). Lavelle, Carroll and Rubin were first-team All-Ivy selections a year ago, while senior defender
Ethan Till was a second-team All-Ivy pick by the coaches.
The Red and Blue open the 2025 season on Saturday, Feb. 15 at Georgetown which is ranked 14th in the preseason poll. The Quakers' 2025 schedule features eight games against teams in the
USA Lacrosse Magazine preseason poll—five of them against Top 8 teams—as well as UAlbany and Villanova which were among five teams in the "also receiving votes" section.
