CEDAR FALLS, Iowa – The University of Pennsylvania wrestling team split the first session of the Elite Duals hosted by Northern Iowa on Friday morning, topping Ohio University 38-9 and narrowly falling 21-16 to #14 South Dakota State.
The victory over Ohio accounts for the first in program history for Penn and the 250th dual win for head coach

How It Happened
Penn dominated the battle with Ohio from the start, claiming three straight tech fall victories from Gallagher (21-2), Miller (18-1), and #9
CJ Composto at 141 (16-9) to give the Red and Blue a 15-0 lead.
Sophomore Swisher and freshman Wasilewski pinned back-to-back Bobcats, with Wasilewski topping Jake Necessary in 2:52 and Swisher edging out Logan Cravatas in 2:09 to bump the lead to 27-0.

Paul Ognissanti claimed the first major decision win against Ohio, beating Jack Lledo 14-2. #5
Nick Incontrera won the sole ranked match in the battle, shutting #9 Garrett Thompson out by decision, 6-0. Penn's last win of the meet came at 184 from #20
Maximus Hale, who topped Jeremy Olszko by major decision, 11-3.
The Quakers started their second meet of the day against South Dakota State strong, with ranked victories from Gallagher over #14 Tanner Jordan (6-5) and Miller over #21 Derrick Cardinal (8-0). Penn's last two wins against the Jack Rabbits came from Wasilewski off a decision over Avery Allen (8-2) and Swisher's second pin of the day, taking down Moses Espinoza-Owens in 5:28.
