Penn vs. Villanova Series
*The Red and Blue hold a commanding 16-9-5 record in the all-tie series.
*The last time these teams met was during the 2017 season when the Cats won 2-1 in University City.
*The Quakers haven't won at Villanova since the 2011 campaign when Penn left the Main Line with a 2-1 win.
Quaker Notemeal
*The Quakers jumped four spots in last week's NCAA DI men's soccer rankings, landing just outside the top ten at #11.
*Penn went 1-1 in action this past week, falling 2-0 to VCU on Monday and shutting Manhattan out 1-0 on Saturday.
*Sophomore
Jack-Ryan Jeremiah netted his second goal and the match-winner in this past Saturday's bout with the Jaspers in the 21st minute. On the other end of the field, goalkeeper
Phillip Falcon III stopped all four second-half shots to tie his career-high in saves.
*For the fourth straight week, sophomore Falcon was named Ivy League Defensive Player of the Week, announced by the conference on Monday. The keeper stopped six of eight shots faced last week and posted his fourth clean sheet of the season.
*Falcon is a force in the league, leading the conference in shutouts per game (4), goals-against average (.500), and save percentage (.842).
*Senior
Stas Korzeniowski currently sits second in the conference in shots (26) and shots on goal (16). Korzeniowski also holds third in goals with four, while senior
Charlie Gaffney sits fourth in assists with three.
*Falcon and defender
Leo Burney have had a strong presence in all six matches, playing the full 540 minutes.
Scouting the Wildcats
*Villanova is still looking for its first win in 2024, entering Tuesday's matchup with a 0-4-3 record.
*The Cats are coming off a 3-2 loss to Marquette. Colby Raymond and Jordan Canica netted Villanova's goals in the Big East opener.
*Canica and Raymond lead the Wildcats' offense with three goals and six points each.
*The Quakers will likely face goalkeeper Alex Yagudayev in the road battle. The freshman keeper holds a 2.29 GAA and a .704 save percentage.
