PHILADELPHIA - The University of Pennsylvania women's tennis team opened its season this past weekend, hosting Temple, Delaware, Saint Joseph's, Syracuse and Missouri for the Penn Invitational at the Hamlin and Hecht Tennis Centers.

On Friday, Penn played St. Joe's and Syracuse in singles and doubles. The Quakers faced Temple, Delaware, and Missouri on Saturday, then wrapped up the weekend facing off against Temple and Syracuse.

Four Quakers went unbeaten in singles play during the Penn Invitational with Eileen Wang, Gavriella Smith and Esha Velaga all going 4-0 in singles and junior Maya Urata going 3-0. Sasha Motlagh and Sarah Wang went 2-1 in singles during the weekend.

Wang and Velaga went 3-1 as a doubles pairing to highlight that action over the weekend.
