Richardson has certainly been in the press the last few weeks despite not even reporting to campus for preseason practice quite yet. He was named to the Walter Payton Award Watch List earlier this week to go along with preseason All-America honors from FCS Football Central (Sports Illustrated), Stats Perform, and now Phil Steele.
Â
He put together an impressive sophomore season for the Quakers in 2023, appearing in nine games and leading the team in receptions (67), receiving yards (788), and receiving touchdowns (8). In a victory at two-time defending Ivy champion Yale, Richardson set the single-game program record for receptions with 17, which totaled 191 yards.
Â
Representing the offense on the preseason All-Ivy list, Richardson is joined by reigning Ivy League Rookie of the Year, first-team All-Ivy, and freshman All-America running back
Malachi Hosley and tight end
Bryce Myers. Hosley ran wild for 723 yards on 121 carries with seven touchdowns for the Quakers in 2023 and was named Ivy League Rookie of the Week a program-record five times. Myers had a campaign that was worthy of honorable mention All-Ivy honors last season, catching 32 passes for 329 yards and a touchdown in his first full year as a starter.
Â
Defensively, the team is highlighted by 2023 first-teamer
Shiloh Means, who returns for a final year wearing the Red and Blue. He started all 10 games as a key leader, making 44 tackles with 21 solo stops, finishing with a team-leading three interceptions. Fairman earned second-team laurels last year after leading the defense with 73 total tackles, averaging 7.3 tackles per game (ranked eighth in the Ivy League). He also had 6.5 TFLs to go along with 1.5 sacks, three pass breakups and three hurries. Lista had a breakout season on the defense, recording 43 total tackles (with 26 solo stops), adding three sacks and an interception.
On the second team, Jennings stepped up as a full-time starter on the defensive line last year and will have an even bigger role this year following the departure of Ivy League Defensive Player of the Year
Joey Slackman. He made a start in all 10 games, registering six TFLs and 2.5 sacks. Machen also played a big role on defense in all 10 games, finishing third on the team with 56 tackles, adding 6.5 TFLs and three PBUs.
