PHILADELPHIA – Is it November yet?
Roger Reina, head coach of the nationally ranked University of Pennsylvania wrestling team head coach, announced the program's 2024-25 schedule on Wednesday morning.
"We're excited for a terrific 2024-25 schedule, culminating with the NCAA Championships in Philadelphia,' said Reina. "Our theme for the NCAAs is "Welcome Home" as the event returns to the city, and to co-host Penn, which hosted the first-ever collegiate wrestling tournament in 1905.
"Our home dual opener against Northern Colorado on Homecoming weekend promises to be a thriller, with many ranked matchups followed by our traditional pre-Thanksgiving Keystone Classic. We'll return to the Midlands to again contend for the team title, followed by an exciting trip to the Elite Duals at Northern Iowa, featuring many of the nation's top Division I programs from non-Power 5 schools. Our home duals include Harvard, Brown, Lehigh, and Princeton, with the Inaugural Ivy Championships determining our bids to the NCAA Championships."
Penn kicks off the 2024-25 campaign at the Journeyman Collegiate Classic (Nov. 10) before opening up home duals with a Homecoming battle against Northern Colorado on Nov. 16. The Quakers round out November action with the 2024 PRTC Keystone Classic at The Palestra (Nov. 24).
The Red and Blue hit the road for the entire month of December, starting off strong with a trip to the DMV against Virginia (Dec. 6) and Morgan State (Dec. 8) before closing out 2024 with the Midlands Championships Dec. 29-30.
The Quakers ring in the New Year at the Elite Duals hosted by Northern Iowa (Jan. 10-11) and Franklin and Marshall Open (Jan. 10) to celebrate the start of 2025. The Ivy League conference slate opens in the Big Apple against Columbia on Jan. 24, followed by a dual with familiar foe Hofstra (Jan. 26).
Ivy competition picks back up on Feb. 2 with a doubleheader against Harvard and Brown in the City of Brotherly Love, trailed by a trip to Central New York for a fight with Cornell on Feb. 9.
Back-to-back home duals against Lehigh (Feb. 13) and Princeton (Feb. 16) finalize the Quakers' home duals for the year. Penn ends the regular season at Rutgers (Feb. 19) and the F&M Duals (Feb. 23) before opening the postseason with the inaugural Ivy League Wrestling Championships hosted by the Tigers on March 9.
The 2024-25 season concludes with the 2025 NCAA Wrestling Championships coming home to Philadelphia at the Wells Fargo Center on March 20-23. The Quakers are set to co-host the tournament with University City neighbor Drexel.
Fans can purchase or renew their season tickets for the 2024-25 campaign beginning on Aug. 1.
