PHILADELPHIA – The United States Fencing Coaches Association (USFCA) announced the 2024 slate of NCAA Fencing Academic awards on Wednesday night, with 38 student-athletes from the University of Pennsylvania men's and women's fencing programs earning the prestigious honors.
 
The USFCA recognizes the individual student-athletes and teams based on their combined Fall and Spring semester GPAs. The USFCA All-Academic Team includes 536 student-athletes, with 326 receiving recognition as Scholars of Distinction. All-Academic Team honors are presented to those student-athletes at member institutions who had an in-season GPA of 3.3 or higher. Scholar of Distinction honors are presented to those student-athletes at member institutions who had an in-season GPA of 3.7 or higher.
 
The women led the charge for Penn, garnering the second-highest team GPA amongst the women's programs with a 3.815, while the men were fourth in the USFCA with a 3.581, with both programs being the highest amongst the Ivies nominated.
