PHILADELPHIA- The University of Pennsylvania women's tennis team returned home with a 4-2 win over Harvard Saturday afternoon to hand the Crimson their first loss in conference play.
Gavriella Smith clinched the match with a singles win over Harvard's Maxi Duncan to push #68 Penn to its fourth Ivy League victory of the season.
The Quakers began the match with a victory at No. 2 doubles, as

Maya Urata downed Rachel Arbitman/Kavya Karra 6-1. At the third slot,

Sasha Motlagh fell to Natalie Block/Sany Gawande 6-3 to leave the doubles point up for grabs.

Eileen Wang secured the doubles point with a 6-3 win at No. 1 over Holly Fischer/Stephanie Yakoff, as Penn led 1-0.
The Crimson tied the match 1-1 as Charlotte Owensby defeated Wang in the #3 slot 6-4, 6-2. Harvard then took the 2-1 lead when Gawande edged Urata 6-4, 6-3 in the #6 slot.
The Quakers then rattled off three straight singles victory in route to the win.
At No. 1, Rutlauka downed the Crimson's Fischer 6-0, 7-6 to tie the match 2-2. Velaga powered through a three-set victory over Yakoff (5-7, 6-0, 6-3) at No. 2 to give Penn the lead.
In another three-set thriller, Smith downed Duncan 6-7, 6-2, 6-0, to seal the match, 4-2.

The Red and Blue (16-7, 4-2 Ivy league) will conclude the regular season on Sunday, April 21, for a 1 p.m. matchup against Dartmouth at the Hamlin/Hecht Tennis Centers.
