HANOVER, N.H. – The University of Pennsylvania men's lacrosse team battled the snow and Dartmouth on the road on Saturday afternoon, leaving New England with an 11-8 Ivy League victory.

Penn moved to 2-0 in conference play with the win, propelled by a four-goal third quarter. Junior Tynan Walsh helped carry the offense, recording five points, including four goals. *Five Quakers scored in the win, led by Walsh's quartet of goals. Cam Rubin scored his third hat trick of the season, and Griffin Scane tallied a pair to account for the other multi-goal scorers in the contest. Ben Smith and Davis Provost both hit the back of the net once to round out the scorers.

*Freshman Provost was all over the field in his first collegiate start, scooping up a team-leading and career-high six ground balls.

*Junior Smith was dishing out goals left and right, tying his career-high in assists with three.

How it Happened
For the first time this season, the Red and Blue opened the scoring as senior Rubin scored his 12th of the year off a dagger to put Penn up five minutes in. A few minutes later, sophomore Scane followed suit, recording an unassisted tally to double the lead with 6:57 left of the first.

Dartmouth finally got on the board two minutes after Scane, sneaking one past goalkeeper Emmet Carroll, but freshman Provost scored the second of his career to bump the lead to 3-1 with time running. The Big Green's Tommy Rogan added one more to the board to end the first behind by one.

The quarter closing goal gave Dartmouth some momentum, as its offense scored three goals in the first minute on a man up advantage to lead 5-3. The Quakers rallied back in retaliation as Walsh scored his first of the game three minutes later to slash the Big Green's run. A minute after, junior Smith accepted a feed from freshman Jacob Pacheco to tie the game at five.

With 6:17 left of the first half, Rubin netted his second off a toss from Casey Mulligan to push Penn ahead 6-5. As the quarter was dwindling to the two-minute mark, Dartmouth's Collin McGill hit the back of Carroll's net to tie the game at six to end the first half.

The Red and Blue had a point to prove coming out of the break, completely dominating the third quarter with four unanswered goals that created a 10-6 hole that ended up being too deep for Dartmouth to overcome. Junior Smith assisted back-to-back goals during the fifth minute, helping Walsh score his second while Rubin completed his hat trick off the feed.

Penn capitalized on a man up advantage with 4:55 left of the third, as Walsh netted the second hat trick of the game. Walsh closed out the third with his fourth and final goal to tie his career high.

The scoring drought for the Big Green was carried over almost ten minutes into the final quarter, as sophomore Scane scored Penn's 11th and final goal of the day on the man up with 6:44 left.

Dartmouth tried to start a rally with five minutes left as Henry Bonnie and Nate Davis scored within a minute of each other to slash the lead to 11-8, but Carroll and the defense prevailed to keep the Big Green from scoring in the final few minutes to secure Penn's second Ivy win.
