PHILADELPHIA – The nationally ranked University of Pennsylvania fencing programs send seven fencers to the 2024 NCAA Fencing Championships starting on Thursday, March 21.

Nationally ranked Penn had an outing at the Mid-Atlantic/South NCAA Regional hosted at Drake University back on March 9. The Quakers had eight fencers grab top ten finishes in their events, with
Blake Broszus,
Gian Dhingra,
Bryce Louie, and
Katina Proestakis Ortiz earning medals.
For the #7 women, junior Proestakis Ortz led the way, grabbing bronze in foil, followed closely by her teammate
Sabrina Cho in fourth place. In epee, freshman
Grace Hu landed sixth place, while senior
Shirley Guo earned ninth to round out the women who placed in the top ten.
The #8 men had a strong performance, especially in foil, with senior Broszus winning gold and Louie following in second place, while
Nicholas Molina snatched tenth place. Freshman Dhingra evened out the men's top ten winnings with a silver medal in sabre.

Broszus, Cho, Dhingra, Hu, Louie, Proestakis Ortiz, and
Joseph Wu will represent the Red and Blue at the championships in Columbus.
All-Region Honors
The Quakers garnered 16 spots between both programs, with the women landing nine and the men seven. Broszus, Cho, Dhingra, Louie, Proestakis Ortiz, and Wu led the charge, earning All-Region First Team in their respective events.
Hu and Guo grabbed the sole second team honors off their sixth and ninth-place finishes at the regional in epee.
Eight Quakers were named honorable mentions, with
