WBB Set For Ivy League Clash Saturday, Hosts #24/25 Princeton

PHILADELPHIA – The University of Pennsylvania women's basketball wraps up a four-game Ivy League homestand on Saturday afternoon, hosting #24/25 Princeton in The Palestra. Tip is set for 2 p.m.

The programs are meeting for the 95th time in the all-time series with the Tigers holding a 65-29 lead in the matchup.
 
• Princeton enters on a nine-game winning streak against the Quakers dating to 2019.
 
• In The Palestra, the Tigers hold a 31-15 edge in the series.
 
• Penn's longest winning streak against the Tigers is five games, stretching from 2016-17. Princeton's longest is set at 11 games from 2009-14.
 
• The two teams met for the first time on January 22, 1986 with the Quakers taking a 72-51 victory in The Palestra.
 
Last Time We Met
• The two squads clashed last March at Jadwin in the Ivy League semifinals, as the Tigers secured a 60-47 decision.
 
• Although a slow start for the Quakers, falling behind 19-2 after the first frame, they responded with back-to-back 19-point quarters to get within six at the beginning of the fourth.
 
Kayla Padilla led all Penn scorers with 20 points (7-for-21), including a perfect 4-for-4 at the line.
 
Mandy McGurk and Jordan Obi each added seven points. Obi also had a team-high eight rebounds.
 
Floor Toonders had a well-rounded effort with five points, six rebounds, two assists, and a block. 
 
• Princeton's Kaitlyn Chen led all scorers with 24 points on 11-for-21 shooting.
 
• Ellie Mitchell posted a double-double with 10 points and 12 rebounds.
 
• The Tigers shot 44.6 percent from the floor, while the Quakers shot 33.3 percent.
 
Penn's Last Time Out
• The Quakers split an Ivy League weekend in The Palestra, securing a 77-56 win on Friday against Brown before slipping to Yale on Saturday in overtime, 74-68.
 
• On Friday night, Obi joined elite company by becoming the 25th player in program history to reach 1,000 career points.
 
• Needing just 74 games, she is the seventh fastest to reach the mark and the third fastest under head coach Mike McLaughlin.
 
• For the night, Obi registered a double-double with 20 points and 13 rebounds.
 
• Against the Bulldogs, Stina Almqvist paced the Quakers with 20 points while Mataya Gayle and Obi chipped in 18 and 17, respectively.

About The Tigers
• Princeton enters Saturday riding a 12-game winning streak, not dropping a contest since December 3 at Rhode Island.
 
• The Tigers have clashed with three nationally ranked opponents this season: #3 UCLA (L, 74-77), #20 Oklahoma (W, 77-63), and #19 Indiana (L, 63-72).
 
• For the first time since 2019-20, they've been nationally ranked in back-to-back weeks, coming in this week at #25. They also rank #24 in the Associated Press.
