Men’s Lax Selected Fourth in Ivy League Preseason Media Poll

PHILADELPHIA – All eyes are on the Ivies, as the 2024 Ivy League Preseason Media Poll was announced by the conference on Thursday afternoon, with the University of Pennsylvania men's lacrosse team selected to finish fourth with 55 points.

The poll closely reflects the standings from last season, with the top four teams all making it to the Ivy League Tournament in 2023. Penn only trails three teams in Cornell, Yale, and Princeton in the poll, all predicted to land a spot in the postseason again this season.

The Quakers finished the 2023 campaign with a 7-6 recording, going 4-2 in Ivy League play, picking up four ranked wins against #8 Georgetown, #17 Saint Joseph's, #18 Princeton, and #20 Yale. The Quakers were ranked as high as #7 throughout the year.

The Red and Blue return a stacked lineup, highlighted by USA Lacrosse Magazine and Inside Lacrosse Preseason All-American Brendan Lavelle. 2023 All-Ivy honorees defender Peter Blake and goalkeeper Emmet Carroll will also be back in the starting rotation for the Red and Blue. Penn brings in 13 newcomers made up of seven of the top 50 freshmen named to Inside Lacrosse's Power 100 Rankings, as well as two transfers from the University of Virginia.

Penn opens the 2024 season on Friday, Feb. 17, when the Georgetown Hoyas head to University City for a noon matchup at Franklin Field.
