PHILADELPHIA – Emily Galvin has been promoted to Assistant AD/Student-Athlete Success at the University of Pennsylvania, it was announced today by Lauren Procopio, the Associate AD/Student-Athlete Success.
"I'm thrilled that Emily Galvin is stepping into the role of Assistant Athletic Director for Student-Athlete Success," Procopio said. "With her strategic vision, expertise in mental performance, and dedication to Penn student-athlete development, she's a perfect fit. I'm confident she'll take Pottruck Center for Student-Athlete Success to new heights in shaping our student-athletes' futures."
In her new position, Galvin will oversee the creation of a comprehensive student-athlete development program, integrating academic services and focusing on professional, personal, and leadership growth. Her previous experience in mental performance and sport psychology will be invaluable as she enhances Penn's support services for student-athletes. She will still serve as the academic contact for select teams.
"I am thrilled to have the opportunity to take on more responsibility in our Center for Student-Athlete Success," Galvin said. "I truly believe in our mission to holistically support Penn student-athletes. I am looking forward to applying my background in sport and performance psychology to amplify our programming and to motivate our student-athletes to engage with our office early and often in their tenure at Penn and beyond."
Galvin is in her second stint within Penn Athletics working closely with student-athletes in both roles. Most recently, she has served as a coordinator in CSAS, playing a pivotal role in running point on Academic Practice and the Penn Student-Athlete Tutoring Program. Additionally, she supports our International Student-Athlete group as the staff liaison.
As part of her new duties, Galvin will work closely with Amy Coffey supporting the curriculum development for the Penn Athletics Wharton Leadership Academy and supervising two Student-Athlete Success Coordinators.
She earned a bachelor's degree in psychology from the University of Pittsburgh in 2010 and a master's in sport studies/sport psychology from Miami University in 2012.
