Penn Athletics Coronavirus Update and Resources

Intercollegiate Sports
  • All spring sports were canceled by the Ivy League on Wednesday, March 11. 
  • All NCAA winter and spring championships were canceled on Thursday, March 12.
  • All athletic facilities are closed, including the Palestra and Franklin Field.
  • All external rentals are canceled through the end of the spring semester.
Campus Recreation
  • The Pottruck Center, Sheerr Pool and Gimbel Gym are currently closed. Group exercises will not be held.
  • The Fox Fitness Center, Hecht/Hamlin Tennis Centers and Penn Squash Center are closed.

The Penn Relays
  • The Division of Recreation and Intercollegiate Athletics at the University of Pennsylvania has announced that the 2020 Penn Relays, scheduled for April 23 through 25, has been canceled due to the evolving coronavirus public health threat.  The Penn Relays, which has been contested uninterrupted since 1895, celebrated its 125th consecutive running last year. In its place, Penn will endeavor to host a substitute track meet at a later date in late May or early June. More information can be found here

Penn General Information:  Student Health & Wellness: 
  • Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) 
    • CAPS remains available from 9:30 am to 4:30 pm, Monday-Friday (no evening hours). 
    • Services may be performed via phone or video conference 
    • All students are encouraged to call in advance.
    • If a student is a current client, their counselor will communicate with them about their needs moving forward. 
    • Students should dial 215-898-7021 and press 2 to speak with the Front-Desk or they can press 1 to talk to a clinician 24/7. 
    • In person drop-in services, are currently available at Student Health at 3535 Market Street.

Campus Resources:  Internet & WiFi Access: 
  • Comcast: Unlimited data for 60 days with no additional chargers 
  • Xfinity WiFi: Free network for everyone for 60-days nationally, waiving late fees, and helping low-income families get connected 
  • AT&T and Charter Communications: Free public Wi-Fi for 60 days, broadband for households with students through college age who don't already have a subscription and removing all usage caps on all accounts 
  • Internet Essentials: Internet program for low-income families free for first 2 months and costs $9.95 per month after
