The Series with Temple
*The Quakers and Owls are meeting for the 36th time in women's lacrosse, Temple holding a 23-11-1 lead in a series that dates back to 1976. That said, this is the first game between these programs since 2010.

*Penn has won the last six matchups, most recently a 15-3 decision almost exactly 14 years ago (March 3, 2010). Temple's most recent win came in 2003, 7-6.

About the Owls
*Temple opened the campaign with victories against Colgate (11-5), Binghamton (15-6), Manhattan (15-6) and Delaware (13-8) before a loss on Saturday to another Ivy program, Yale (13-5).

*Belle Mastropietro and Amelia Wright lead the Owls in scoring with 12 and 10 goals apiece. Mackenzie Ross leads the team with seven assists and has 13 points, while Mastropietro has six assists for 18 points and Wright has four dimes for 14 points.

*Maddie Barber leads Temple in draw controls (16) and has 10 caused turnovers, while Katie Shallow tops the squad in CTs (22) and has 13 DCs. Mastropietro has 12 draw controls.

*In goal, Taylor Grollman has played a majority of the minutes and boasts a .584 save percentage as well as a 6.74 goals-against average.

Quaker Notemeal
*Penn moved up one spot in the IWLCA poll after defeating then-No. 12 Johns Hopkins on Saturday at Franklin Field, 11-10. The Quakers also are 13th in the Inside Lacrosse and USA Lacrosse Magazine polls this week.

*In Saturday's win, the Quakers led by as many as five before the Blue Jays were able to make a late run to get within a goal.

*Senior Niki Miles led the attack with five points (4g/1a) and also had two caused turnovers. Freshman Catherine Berkery also scored four times on Saturday, while junior Erika Chung matched Miles in the points column with two goals and a game-high three assists.

*At the other end, senior Kelly Van Hoesen made eight saves in goal. On Monday, she was named the Ivy League's Defensive Player of the Week.

*Chung (2g/7a) and Miles (7g/2a) lead the team with nine points each, followed by Berkery who has six (5g/1a). Junior Anna Brandt has three goals, junior Keeley Block and senior Kaitlyn Cumiskey have three points each, and ten players have gotten on the scoresheet through two games.

*Miles also leads Penn with four caused turnovers, followed by Brandt and senior Sophie Davis who have three each. Draw controls? Yup, Miles again—she has 11. Brandt and senior Aly Feeley have four each.

*Penn returns practically a complete 2023 roster outside of Kennon Moon to graduation, including Ivy League major award winners in Miles, Brandt and Izzy Rohr. The trio has garnered several preseason All-America honors from Inside Lacrosse and US Lacrosse, and Miles and Rohr were named to the Tewaaraton Award's preseason watch list.

*On top of a large returning group, the Quakers secured two transfers: Grace Turner (Stanford) and Carli Fleisher (Northwestern).

*Joining the Red & Blue for their first collegiate season is a class of eight freshmen, hailing from six different states.

*Penn went 14-5 in 2023, including a perfect Ivy League record of 7-0 en route to the program's 14th title. After hosting and rolling through the Ivy League Tournament to earn the Quakers their 16th berth to the NCAA Championship field, they advanced to the second round for the first time since 2018 before falling in a tight game to eventual national runner-up Boston College.

*The Ivy League announced its preseason media poll on February 13 and Penn was a unanimous pick to repeat as conference champion, scooping up all 16 first-place votes for 128 points.

*The Quakers will be led by four captains this season: Miles, Rohr, Maria Themelis, and Morgan Smith.

*Head coach Karin Corbett is in her 25th season at the helm and owns 256 of the program's 409 wins.
