PHILADELPHIA – After a tremendous shooting performance against La Salle in the Big 5 Classic on Friday, freshman guard
Sarah Miller was named Ivy League Rookie of the Week, announced by the conference office on Monday afternoon.
Miller and fellow freshman
Katie Collins have combined to win the honor four of the first five weeks of the 2024-25 season so far.
In the 74-63 victory over the Explorers on Friday, Miller had a game-high 21 points—18 in the first half alone—on a career-high five three-pointers to lead the Quakers to their fourth consecutive win.
Miller exploded for four triples in a three-minute span to allow Penn to re-take the lead late in the second quarter.
In 10 games this season, Miller has made the last six starts at guard and is shooting 47.8 percent (22-for-46) from the field and 47.1 percent (16-for-34) from three-point range. She's averaging 6.4 points per game and 2.6 rebounds while averaging 16.4 minutes per game.
In addition, sophomore guard
Mataya Gayle earned a spot on the Ivy League's weekly honor roll. She stuffed the stat sheet with 11 points, nine assists, and seven rebounds.
Through 10 games, Penn sits second in the Ivy League standings behind Harvard at 7-3 (.700). The Quakers have two weeks off before hosting Delaware State at The Palestra on Dec. 20 at 11:30 a.m.
