CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – The University of Pennsylvania wrestling team dropped its road trip opener on Friday night, falling 25–11 to Virginia on the road.
 
#18 Max Gallagher (125), Evan Mougalian (141), and #6 Nick Incontrera took their bouts against Virginia to account for Penn's points in the meet.
 
Quaker Notemeal
*Freshman Paul Ognissanti and transfer Jackson Zimmerman made their dual debuts against the Cavaliers.
 
*Sophomore Mougalian made his season dual debut tonight, picking up a win against the Hoos.
 
*Senior Incontrera stayed undefeated on the season after topping Rocco Contino.
 
How It Happened
After starting the meet at 165, the Quakers tied things up at three after the 174 bout. Incontrera topped UVA's Contino 6-4, highlighted by a late takedown in the third to move to 5-0 on the year.
 
#18 Gallagher continued his hot pace to the season, winning his fifth consecutive battle of the season. The sophomore won his match with #28 Keyveon Roller by tech fall to cut Virginia's lead to 15-8. Gallagher scored seven takedowns in the outing to claim the victory.
 
Mougalian won the Quakers' final battle of the night, topping Kyren Butler by decision to win the first dual of his career. The sophomore recorded an 8-3 lead over Butler in the second to help secure the 9-6 win.

The Quakers (0-2, 0-0 Ivy League) close out their road trip on Sunday, heading to Baltimore for a 2 p.m. matchup with Morgan State.
