PHILADELPHIA – The University of Pennsylvania men's and women's swimming and diving programs hold their only "home" meet of the season this weekend, hosting Ivy League foes Princeton and Cornell on Friday—with diving at 5 p.m.—and Saturday, with the women starting at 11 a.m. and the men going at 3 p.m. at Drexel Pool.
Both the men (1-2, 0-2 Ivy League) and the women (5-1, 1-1 Ivy League) earned decisive victories over Bryant in Providence last week while falling to host Brown at the Katharine Moran Coleman Aquatics Center.
Quaker Notemeal
*On the men's side,
James Curreri claimed victory in the 1000 freestyle, clocking a 9:20.81. He also claimed a win in the 500 free with a time of 4:34.24.
*
Matt Fallon won the 200 butterfly (1:49.06) and then cruised to victory in the 200 breaststroke with a time of 1:56.35.
Peter Whittington placed second behind Fallon in the 200 fly (1:49.69) and third in the 200 breast (2:00.28).

Jeffrey Hou won the 100 fly with a time of 48.88 and
Alex Fu placed third at 49.23.
*The team of Hou,
Watson Nguyen, Fu, and Campbell took second place in the 200-medley relay with a time of 1:29.31.
*Hou (49.31) beat
Daniel Gallagher (50.29) for second place in the 100 backstroke.
*For the women,
Kayla Fu's quick time of 53.19 in the 100 fly broke the Quakers' school record, previously set back in 2019. The freshman also picked up wins in the 50-yard freestyle (23.18) and 100 free (50.13), finishing as Penn's first three-time event winner in a single meet this year.

Meredith Holcomb also claimed victory in the 200 breaststroke with a time of 2:18.99.
Abby Druhan came in third place at 2:20.63.

Anna Moehn took the win in the 1,000 free (10:10.71) with
Sydney Bergstrom coming in second (10:16.25) and
Anna Boeckman in third (10:16.48). Moehn also tied for first in the 500 free with a time of 4:56.62.
*The 200-medley relay team of
Amy Qin,
Kate Handley,
Maggie Hu, and Fu swam a 1:42.04 to place first.
*On the diving board,
Sadie Howard won the three-meter dive with a score of 268.10.
Sophie Slayden placed second at 251.95. Howard took third place in the one-meter dive (262.60).
*For Senior Day, Penn will honor nine women—
Brooke Blom,
Vanessa Chong,
Amelia Girotto,
Joy Jiang,
Jillian Johnson,
Keara McGowan,
Madeleine Parker, and
Izzy Pytel—as well as five men—
Matt Fallon,
Daniel Gallagher,
Cody Hopkins,
Jonathan Javier Koumendakos, and
Daniel Trincher—ahead of each meet.
Scouting The Tigers
*The No. 25 Princeton men have opened their season with a 3-0 record in conference competition with wins versus Brown, Dartmouth, and Columbia.
*The men most recently picked up a 168-132 win against the Lions after breaking five school records in the 200-medley relay, 100-yard backstroke, 200-yard butterfly, 100 freestyle, and 400 freestyle relay.
*Some of the men behind those wins include Yanning Zhang (200-medley relay, 100 back and 400 free relay), Mitch Schott (200 yard fly and 400 free relay) and Patrick Dinu (200 medley relay, 100 free and 400 free relay).
*In addition, Aidan Wang claimed first in the one-meter and three-meter dives. Luca Fassi and George Callanan placed second and third place in the one-meter dive.
*Similarly, the Princeton women have opened their season with a 3-1 record in Ivy action also proving victorious against Brown, Dartmouth and Columbia.
*They polished off a 176-124 win against Rutgers after Eleanor Sun captured three wins including a new school record in the 200 IM.
*Charlotte Martinkus swept both the one-meter and three-meter diving events.
Scouting The Big Red
*The Cornell men improved to 3-1 this season, the only loss coming from Harvard.
*In its most recent contest against Dartmouth and Harvard, Pietro Ubertalli earned a victory in the 100-yard backstroke. In the 100-yard breaststroke, Haihan Xu placed first with Connor Brown in second.
*Soodong Kim took second in both the one-meter and three-meter dives.
*The Cornell women are 2-2 with losses against Harvard and Dartmouth.
*In the matchup against Crimson and Big Green, Kate Li, Erin Dehollander and Jungmin Yoon went 1-2-3 in the 200 free. Katie Yee and Sophia Sim took 1-2 for the 200 fly and Audrey Holden placed first in the 100 breast.
*Li (200 IM) and Yoon (200 back) recently claimed new school records in those events, respectively.
