Collins Secures Second Straight Ivy League Rookie of the Week Award

PHILADELPHIA – For the second consecutive week, freshman forward Katie Collins was named Ivy League Rookie of the Week. She led the University of Pennsylvania women's basketball team to a 1-1 week against Siena and Saint Joseph's and continued her torrid start to her rookie campaign.

Collins secured her first career double-double in Wednesday's 78-47 victory over the Saints at The Palestra, scoring 13 points with 11 rebounds. Despite getting into foul trouble with four fouls, she played 32 minutes.

The freshman clocked a full 40 minutes in Friday's Big 5 loss to St. Joe's, notching eight points with five boards. She also had two blocks. Her 10 blocks are both a team-high and Ivy League-high mark so far this year.

Stina Almqvist was tabbed to the Ivy League's weekly honor roll after averaging 24.0 points and 9.0 rebounds in her two starts last week.

Penn continues Big 5 pod play Wednesday at Villanova. Tip off is set for 7 p.m. from Finneran Pavilion. The Quakers then return home Thursday against UC Irvine at The Palestra.
