PHILADELPHIA- The University of Pennsylvania women's tennis team hosted the 27th Annual Cissie Leary Invitational this past weekend, competing against Delaware, Drexel, Temple, St. Joe's, Villanova, UConn, and Cornell at the Hamlin and Hecht Tennis Centers.
On Friday, Penn played Delaware and Drexel in doubles, followed by an 11 a.m. singles session. The Quakers faced UConn and St. Joe's in doubles and singles on Saturday, then concluded the invitational competing against UConn in singles on Sunday.
Freshman
Lara Stojanovski had a great weekend, going undefeated in singles with a record of 3-0. Senior Sabine Rutalauka, coming off a stellar ITA performance a week previous, went 2-0 in singles through two days of competition. Seniors
Saige Roshkoff,
Gavriella Smith, and Sophomore
Sasha Motlagh went an impressive 2-1 singles on the weekend.
Rutlauka also went undefeated in doubles alongside freshman
Sarah Wang with a record of 3-0. Penn also had Smith and Motlagh go 2-1 in doubles.
Penn will waste no time returning to action and will host the ITA Regionals at the Hamlin/Hecht Tennis Centers on Thursday.
