Quaker Notemeal
*Ryan's game-winner was the first in her collegiate career. Her three points on the afternoon tied a single-game high which she previously set against Drexel on Sept. 10, 2023.

*Goaltender Ruby de Frees recorded six saves. It marks the fifth time this season the sophomore goaltender has made five or more stops.

*The Quakers have a four-game winning streak vs. the Lions dating back to Oct. 21, 2021.

*Penn outshot Columbia, 20-9. The last time the Red and Blue recorded 20+ shots was against Villanova on Oct. 8, 2023. It's the fourth game in a row in which Penn has outshot its opponent.

*Today marked exactly one year since the Quakers had their last overtime win. On that day, they beat Princeton 3-2 in double-OT.

How It Happened
Both teams felt each other out in the first part of this crucial Ivy League bout. The Lions were first to generate offensive opportunities, recording the first shot with under seven minutes left. Columbia would pepper de Frees with three shots in 20 seconds, all of which she saved. Penn got on the aggression in the second quarter. Columbia goaltender Katie Wimmer demonstrated why she is one of the best goalies in the country, stopping five shots off three penalty corners.

With three and a half minutes left in the quarter, the Lions broke the tie. Nicole Campolattaro threw up a shot which Kim deflected for her first goal of the season.

The Quakers responded as time expired in the first half. They were awarded a penalty corner with two seconds left. Courtney Kenah inserted the ball to Ryan who set up Barrington-Hibbert for the shot attempt. That made it a 1-1 game after 30 minutes. Penn carried that momentum into the second half, picking up three penalty corners in the first minute and a half. The Lions' defense stood firm though as they didn't concede a goal.

The remainder of the second half was a defensive slugfest that demonstrated the severity of this game. Five cards were assessed in a 20-minute stretch, which equaled the number of shots between both teams. It was 1-1 after 60 minutes and Penn went to overtime for the second time in three games.

With two minutes left in overtime, Livia Loozen found Ryan in the circle. She dribbled the ball to the front of the net and shot it under Wimmer's legs for the win.
