PHILADELPHIA- The University of Pennsylvania women's tennis team made a statement as Sabine Rutlauka captured the ITA Regional title against teammate Esha Velaga, who both advanced to play in the NCAA Individual Championships.
Rutlauka and Velaga were both finalists in the ITA Regional this past Tuesday. The two Quakers played in the singles match against one another, where Rutlauka was the winner in a two-set victory 7-6, 7-6, winning both tiebreakers 7-5, 7-1.
Rutlauka was also a finalist in doubles with teammate Eileen Wang. The duo fell in the final to Penn State's Maiko Uchijima and Olivia Dorner.
Penn is back on the courts Friday, Oct. 25, to host the Ivy League Invitational at the Hamlin and Hecht Tennis Centers.
