PHILADELPHIA – The University of Pennsylvania football team earned its first weekly honor on Monday afternoon as junior linebacker
John Lista was named Ivy League Defensive Player of the Week, the conference office announced.
Lista is the Quakers' first recipient of Defensive Player of the Week since Oct. 24, 2022 when
Joey Slackman won the award.
In Penn's 31-21 victory over Bucknell on Saturday, Lista led the defensive effort with 11 total tackles—10 of which were solo stops—along with 3.5 TFLs and a sack. He also added a quarterback hurry.
Through three games played this season, Lista has 27 total tackles, and 3.5 TFLs to his name.
In addition to Lista's Ancient Eight honor, he was also featured on Stats Perform's honorable mention list for FCS National Defensive Player of the Week.

Malachi Hosley, senior return specialist
Julien Stokes, and freshman defensive lineman
David McMorris were named to the Ivy League's weekly honor roll.
It's all Ivy the rest of the way for Penn, who host Columbia Saturday at Franklin Field at 1 p.m. Under the direction of first-year head coach Jon Poppe, the Lions hold an overall record of 3-1, are 1-0 in Ivy play through the first four games of the season and are receiving votes in the latest AFCA Coaches Poll.
