How It Happened
The Quakers set the tone in the first quarter. They recorded the first shot of the game less than two minutes into the contest but it was sent wide of the net.
Halfway into the quarter, the Quakers' press resulted in a turnover. Loozen took the ball and ripped it past the goalie to put the Quakers up 1-0.
Penn continued the offensive pressure but it couldn't score in the second quarter. Freedman drew a yellow card on Dartmouth goalie Isabel Andrews– one of two she received in the game–but Penn couldn't quite capitalize.
Dartmouth's best offensive opportunity came late in the third quarter, when it was able to push the ball into the circle. Olivia Galiotos put a shot up but de Frees stood tall and made the save.
A minute later, Penn's press once again generated a goal. Pinned in their own defensive end, the Big Green were trying to flip the field but
Riley Thomson deflected a pass. The ball landed right in front of Freedman who backhanded it for the score.
The Red and Blue scored their third and final goal halfway into the fourth quarter. Andrews received her second yellow card and Penn was awarded a penalty corner. Thomson inserted it to Freedman who set up Barrington-Hibbert for the tally.
Both teams exchanged a shot on goal in the final minutes but both were denied as the Quakers held on for the shutout victory in the Upper Valley.
