#19 Wrestling Competes Twice this Week; Travels to F&M Open, Battles #14 Rutgers

PHILADELPHIA – The #19 University of Pennsylvania wrestling team rings in the new year this weekend, heading to the Franklin and Marshall Open on Friday and hosting #14 Rutgers in The Palestra on Saturday night at 7 p.m.

Last Time Out
Penn hit the mats last weekend and was a dominant force, taking the team title at the Midlands Championships for the first time in program history. Michael Colaiocco (133), CJ Composto (141), Lucas Revano (157), Nick Incontrera (184), Maximus Hale (184), Cole Urbas (197), and John Stout (285) all placed in the top ten en route to Penn's title. Composto and Hale led the Quakers with second-place finishes, while Incontrera, Revano, and Urbas grabbed third. Colaiocco placed fourth, and Stout landed eighth to round out the Quakers in the top ten of their weight classes.  
 
Quakers in the Rankings
Eight from the Red and Blue head into this weekend's battles ranked in the top 35 of their weight classes, with Revano, Stout, and Urbas new to the FloWrestling and Intermat polls after their performances last week. #7 Colaiocco (133) leads the Quakers in the rankings, moving up a spot after his fourth-place finish at Midlands. #11 Composto (141), #11 Incontrera (174), #16 Hale (184), #21 Cole (197), #25 Revano (157), #33 Max Gallagher (125), and #33 Stout (285) even out Penn's presence in the rankings.
 
F&M Field
#10 Virginia Tech, #16 Lehigh, #17 Air Force, #20 Lock Haven, #23 Maryland, #27 Pittsburgh, American, Army Prep, Army West Point, Binghamton, Campbell, Columbia, Drexel, George Mason, Harvard, Hofstra, Kent State, LIU, Millersville, NC State, North Carolina, Navy, Presbyterian, Princeton, Rider, Rutgers, and Sacred Heart join the #19 Quakers and F&M in Lancaster, Pa. for the open. 
 
Scarlet Knights in the Rankings
#14 Rutgers has seven grapplers in the top 30 of their weight classes heading to University City. Heavy weight #7 Yaraslau Slavikouski (285) leads Rutgers followed by #8 John Poznanski (197), #9 Dylan Shawver (133), #14 Mitch Moore (141), #19 Brina Soldano (184), #27 Jackson Turley (174), and #33 Andrew Clarke (157).
