BROOKLYN, N.Y. – The nationally ranked University of Pennsylvania fencing programs had a strong showing at the LIU Invitational on Sunday afternoon.
Penn won five combined bouts at the invitational, with the women sweeping the day with three wins while the men picked up two.
The #7 women topped the #1 team in Division I fencing to highlight their performance today. The Quakers edged out Princeton 14-13, taking foil (5-4) and epee (5-4) to squeeze out the victory. The women also took their bouts against #13 St. John's (14-13) and host LIU (23-4).
The #7 men grabbed a ranked victory against #8 St. John's, winning foil (7-2) and epee (5-4) to secure a 16-11 win over the Red Storm. The men also took their matchup against LIU, winning all three events.
