#22 Wrestling Prepares for Busy Sunday; Opens Ivy Action at Home with Columbia, Travels to Mat Town Open

PHILADELPHIA – The #22 University of Pennsylvania wrestling team hit the mats twice on Sunday, traveling to Lock Haven for the Mat Town Open before opening Ivy League action against Columbia at 1 p.m. inside The Palestra.

The #20 University of Pennsylvania wrestling team battled hard till the final match in The Palestra on Sunday afternoon, falling 20-16 to Stanford. Max Gallagher (125), #10 Michael Colaiocco (133), #13 CJ Composto (141), #7 Nick Incontrera (174), and #17 Maximus Hale (184) topped their opponents to account for Penn's 16 points against Stanford. 
 
 
Perfect Records
#7 Incontrera and #17 Hale still carry perfect dual records into Sunday's battle with Columbia. The juniors are 5-0 in duals, with three wins coming from powerhouse programs in Iowa, Lehigh, and Rutgers.
 
 
EIWA Wrestler of the Week
After going 2-0 in duals last weekend, freshman Gallagher was named EIWA Wrestler of the Week, announced on Monday afternoon. Gallagher opened the Lehigh dual with a statement win over Sheldon Seymour by decision, 4-1, SV. Quakers in the Rankings
Seven Quakers stand in the top 30 of the FloWrestling and Intermat rankings this week. #7 Incontrera (174) leads the Red and Blue in the rankings after moving to 5-0 in dual action. The junior is followed by #10 Colaiocco (133), #16 Composto (141), #17 Hale (184), #23 Lucas Revano (157), #24 Cole Urbas, and #29 Gallagher, who rounds out Penn's presence in the rankings.
 
 
Lions in the Rankings
Columbia travels to University City with three grapplers nationally ranked, with #7 Lennox Wolak (174) leading the team. Wolak is followed by fellow Lions #19 Aaron Ayzerov (184) and #27 Jack Wehmeyer, who also head into this weekend's dual ranked in the top 30 of their weight classes.
