PHILADELPHIA – The #7 University of Pennsylvania fencing programs closed out the Philadelphia Invitational with six combined wins on Sunday in the Tse Center.
The women ended the invite 11-1 after picking up wins against #5 Northwestern (14-13), #5 Ohio State (19-8), #2 Notre Dame (16-11), and #11 Temple (18-9) today, with the victories over the Buckeyes and Fighting Irish accounting for payback wins after falling to both teams back at the Elite Invite during the fall portion of the campaign.
The men completed both days with a 7-4 record, capturing a statement 21-6 victory over Drew to start the second day of the tournament and closing out the battles in University City with a ranked win over #8 St. John's, 16-11.
