PHILADELPHIA- The University of Pennsylvania men's tennis team begins the dual match portion of its schedule this weekend with matchups against Tennessee and Furman. First serve is scheduled for 11:00 a.m. on Saturday against the Volunteers, and 9:00 a.m. on Sunday against the Paladins.

The Quakers wrapped up the fall season with a trip to the Northeast Super Regional where senior
Sameer Gangoli advanced to the Round of 16 in singles to highlight Penn's performance. Sophomores
Kian Vakili and
Manfredi Graziani and freshman
Parashar Bharadwaj competed in singles and fell in the Round of 32.

Zachery Lim dropped matches in the Round of 16.
Vakili and Sandler each made their first career appearance in the ITA (Intercollegiate Tennis Association) National Doubles Rankings. After accumulating an 8-1 record, the doubles pair finished with a ranking of No. 56 in the Final Fall National Rankings.

After advancing a doubles pairing to the Round of 16 during the NCAA Championship last season, and setting a program record with five All-Ivy honorees, head coach

The Quakers return to action after a successful fall. In singles action, freshmen Bharadwaj, Sandler and
Luka Butera had a strong showing. Bharadwaj led Penn with eight wins in the fall season, while Sandler picked up five wins and Butera earned four. Second-year Graziani grabbed five victories and senior veteran Gangoli picked up seven.
In doubles action, the young duo of Vakili and Sandler won eight matches together, while the pairing of Bharadwaj and Gangoli picked up six victories throughout the fall season. Bharadwaj totaled eight victories playing with three different partners, while Graziani added three wins with two partners over the course of the fall.

Previewing Tennessee
The Volunteers head into the spring season ranked eighth according to the ITA, after finishing 23-8 and 16-2 at home last season. Tennessee sent two players to compete in the NCAA Singles Championship last season both falling in the Round of 64, while their doubles pairing reached the Round of 32 in the NCAA Doubles Championship.
Following the conclusion of the fall season, Johannus Monday and Shunsuke Mitsui found themselves in the top 50 according to the ITA singles rankings, with Monday landing at No. 20 and Mitsui landing at No. 33.
Monday and Angel Diaz earned a doubles ranking of No. 26, while the duo of Mitsui and Pieczonka ranked No. 34 at the end of the fall.

Previewing Furman
The Paladins finished 11-14 and 8-4 at home last season, while advancing to the semifinals of the Southern Conference Championship. Jerry Barton and Thomas Kennedy led the way for Furman, with Barton earning a 13-11 record and Kennedy finishing 10-12. As a team, the Paladins held a .412 winning percentage.
