Women's Soccer Draws with Yale at Penn Park, 1-1

PHILADELPHIA- A pair of first half goals – one from visiting Yale, the equalizer on the half hour by host University of Pennsylvania – left the Ivy League foes knotted up 1-1, after a tightly contested women's soccer battle at Penn Park.

Penn kept its home record unblemished (4-0-2) in moving to 5-4-2 on the season, while Yale moved to 5-2-3.

*Penn outshot Yale 8-6 in the second half and held a 6-3 advantage on corner kicks.

How It Happened
The first half of Saturday's afternoon match held the only scoring of the contest, and neither team could break the tie after the break.

Although the Bulldogs were able to score just over six minutes into the match, the Quakers found the equalizer fifteen minutes before the halftime whistle to keep the match level.

In the 31st minute, Lucas played a ball to Cook who was able to net one in far post; her second goal of the year.

The team traded chances in the second half, with both keepers making diving attempts in order to keep the match even.

Isobel Glass had two good looks in the 64th minute but could not finish, as the Bulldogs goalie made another stop.

Moments later, Yale turned the ball over in its defensive third which allowed Glass to get a close-range shot, but the Bulldogs keeper yet again was equal to the occasion.

With minutes remaining, a save from Gladu that was deflected to the far post allowed for a clean chance, but a team save from Penn on an open goal kept the game tied at 1-1.

Quotables
"We did a great job of responding to the adversity but need to start the game with more urgency. I was proud of our response but need to get back to earning shutouts to earn more points in league play." – Dr. Krissy Turner, Douglas N. Brush Head Coach of Women's Soccer.
