The Army Series
The Black Knights have won the previous six matchups against Penn, leading the all-time series, 16-3. The Quakers' last victory over Army came back in 2016, a 14-9 win at Franklin Field. That year, the Red and Blue went 7-0 en route to an undefeated season and a CSFL title.

Running to the First Win of the Season
The Quakers recorded their first win of the season at home Friday against their Ivy rival Cornell, earning a 21-9 decision. With a strong defensive performance and an even stronger run game, the Red and Blue were in complete control. Penn's defense recorded one forced fumble, two interceptions and four sacks, giving Cornell no breathing room while only allowing a total of 120 total yards. Sophomore linebacker Gavin Griswold totaled nine tackles (eight solos), with 1.5 sacks, while Josh Johnson and Jordan Ortiz each had a pick. The running game was led by freshman JT Goodman, who rushed 26 times for 76 yards and punched in two touchdowns, while junior Tom Rebstock scored the third TD. The combination of Goodman—who was named CSFL Rookie of the Week—Rebstock and quarterback Ty Scherer totaled a combined 128 yards on the ground.

Scouting The Black Knights
Army won its first game of the season Saturday at Mansfield, 47-6. The Black Knights had an impressive offensive game, scoring three touchdowns in the first quarter, two of them on the ground. Army scored another 16 points in the second half, including a safety. Henry Beck carried the ball 15 times for 128 yards and two touchdowns, while Mikal Willeke tossed two TDs through the air for 157 yards. The Cadets fell to Navy, 28-21, in last season's CSFL Championship Game in Annapolis.

Year Three
It's the third year at the helm for William R. Wagner Head Coach of Sprint Football Jerry McConnell. Last season, the Quakers went 3-4 overall and once again competed for a CSFL South division crown right until the final whistle.

All-CSFL
Eight All-CSFL selections from a year ago return to the program in 2023, including second teamers Jake Wang, Cam Janock and Jake Inserra. Returning honorable mention honorees Alex Schrier, Matt McKillop, Jordan Ortiz, Charles Tauckus and Adrian Montemayor.
