CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. - The University of Pennsylvania men's tennis team had a strong showing throughout the weekend at the Orange and Blue Classic, hosted by the University of Virginia. The weekend event was played in a hidden duals format and featured Vanderbilt, Virginia Tech and the host (and two-time defending NCAA champion) Cavaliers. The tournament was played indoors on Saturday due to inclement weather, and was outdoors on Friday and Sunday.
Penn began the weekend with a 5-2 win over Virginia Tech on Friday, followed by a 4-3 loss to Virginia on Saturday and another 4-3 loss on Sunday, this time to Vanderbilt.
The Quakers enjoyed a reunion this weekend with Edoardo Graziani, a UVA graduate transfer who spent three seasons with Penn and was the 2022 Ivy League Player of the Year. Graziani and his younger brother
Manfredi Graziani faced each other in a doubles match on Saturday, with Edoardo and Chris Rodesch taking down Manfredi and
Zachery Lim. Manfredi picked up a singles victory against Virginia Tech on Friday as well as a doubles victory with partner Lim against No. 40 ranked Nathan Cox and Jeremie Casabon.
Freshman Parashar Bharadwaj went 2-0 in his singles matches against the Hokies and the Cavaliers, while going undefeated in three doubles matches. The doubles duo of
