PHILADELPHIA – Junior forward
Stas Korzeniowski netted a brace as the University of Pennsylvania men's soccer team earned its first home victory of the season with a 3-1 final over UAlbany Saturday evening at Dunning-Cohen Champions Field at Penn Park.
The Quakers improve to 2-2-1 through five matches while the Great Danes fall to 3-4-0.

*Penn extends its home winning streak to seven consecutive matches dating back to last season. The Quakers are now 5-0 at Penn Park since moving there Oct. 8, 2022 due to the temporary closure of Rhodes Field.
*It's the second-career multi-goal match of
Stas Korzeniowski's collegiate career and first since a hat trick at Colgate on Sept. 11, 2022.
*Eight of Korzeniowski's 17 career goals for the Red and Blue have occurred at home.

Michael Hewes tallied an assist on Korzeniowski's first goal, the senior totaling seven points over his last three matches played.

Mateo Zazueta recorded the first penalty-kick goal of his career. That makes two first-time PK scorers this season, joining Hewes who scored his first at Penn State last week.

Nick Christoffersen didn't make a save, but played the full 90, allowed just one goal and earned his second victory of the campaign.
*Penn dominated shots, 14-9, including 5-1 on goal.
How It Happened
Penn's offense started off hot early with four shots—one on goal—over the first 10 minutes of game action. In the 11th minute,
Stas Korzeniowski came through with his second goal of the season off an assist from
Michael Hewes to push the Quakers in front first, 1-0.
Nine minutes later, UAlbany equalized on the 20th-minute strike from Ivar Orri Gissurarson off the corner-kick helper from Alex Pechacek.
A foul in the box during the 42nd minute gave senior
Mateo Zazueta a chance to hit from the spot, booting a penalty kick to re-gain the lead, 2-1.
Ben Do nearly made it three first-half goals when his chance was saved in the 44th minute.
Korzeniowski got another perfect shot to score in the 73rd, delivering to give the Quakers a 3-1 lead.
The Great Danes' Ander Castillo missed top right corner in the 87th minute, the final chance of the match for the side.
