How It Happened
A tight first quarter had the Hoosiers with a slight edge in shot attempts, 4-3, over the Quakers including the final shot of the frame in the closing minute that put Indiana up one before the break.
Â
It didn't take long for Penn to respond, evening the score in the second quarter when Kuzyk pulled the ball just inside the circle and ripped it through traffic into the cage. It was the only shot for either team in the second quarter, as the score went into the half knotted up at 1-1.
Â
The final two quarters were fully dominated by the Quakers, outshooting the Hoosiers, 15-4. However, the Indiana goalkeeper wouldn't let anything pass, making seven of her eight saves for the game to keep the game even through 60 minutes.
Â
For the second straight game, the Quakers headed to overtime. In two 10-minute periods, only one shot was taken by either team when freshman
Emily Stafford fired off her only attempt of the game late in the second frame but was blocked.
Â
With no decision, the game was sent to a shootout where Indiana hit its first three attempts and the first three for the Quakers were missed.
