PHILADELPHIA – Just 40 days from the start of the 2023 season, the University of Pennsylvania football team was picked third in the Ivy League's Preseason Poll, voted on by 16 members of the media—two for each Ancient Eight school—and announced on Monday afternoon.
Penn received 90 points, while Princeton was picked second with 103 points and one first-place vote, while reigning Ivy champion Yale was selected the favorite to repeat, garnering 122 points and 13 first-place votes. Harvard was picked fourth with 84 points and one first-place vote.
The Quakers went 8-2 and finished tied for second place at the conclusion of the 2022 campaign, winning their most games since 2010. Penn started the year off with six-straight victories, the program's longest winning streak to open a season since 2003.
The final game of the season was an important one, as Penn topped #22 Princeton, 20-19, in Old Nassau to snap a three-game skid against the Tigers in the all-time series.

The Red and Blue begins play on Sept. 16 at Colgate at 1 p.m. Penn will open its Ivy slate against Dartmouth at Franklin Field on Sept. 30 at 1 p.m.
