Penn Volleyball Announces 2023 Schedule

PHILADELPHIA – The University of Pennsylvania's head volleyball coach, Meredith Schamun, has announced her program's 2023 schedule.

"The upcoming season is going to be a big one for us," said Schamun, who has been the program's head coach since March of 2020. "I am excited for the nonconference schedule we've put together, with a trip down to Texas and a regional tournament in Delaware; we are anxious to secure early wins before heading into conference play with back-to-back matches against Princeton. This group worked tirelessly through the spring and, with the addition of our incoming class, we are excited to see what they can accomplish this season."

Penn begins the 2023 campaign Labor Day Weekend at the Houston Christian University tournament, where the Quakers will face the host Huskies, Arkansas State, and UT-Rio Grande Valley. The Quakers will be home for four matches over a four-day span after that, hosting Villanova on Wednesday, Sept. 6 and then entertaining Coppin State, Duquesne and Lafayette at the annual Penn Invitational on Friday, Sept. 8 and Saturday, Sept. 9.

Penn's non-conference season concludes with a short trip to Delaware State to play in a tournament where the Quakers will face the host Hornets, NJIT, and Georgetown on Friday, Sept. 15 and Saturday, Sept. 16.

The Ivy League season starts with a new twist, as Penn and travel partner Princeton will face each other in a home-and-home series on consecutive nights. The Quakers host the Tigers on Friday, Sept. 22 and then the teams will meet again one night later at Old Nassau.

Penn is on the road for its next four Ivy matches after that, making both of its New England trips back-to-back to face Yale (Friday, Sept. 29) and Brown (Saturday, Sept. 30) and then Dartmouth (Friday, Oct. 6) and Harvard (Saturday, Oct. 7). The Quakers are then home for four in a row, sandwiching a pair of Ivy weekends around a bye in the schedule. The first weekend has Penn hosting Cornell (Friday, Oct. 13) and Columbia (Saturday, Oct. 14), and then after a bye weekend the Red and Blue will be home to face Brown (Friday, Oct. 27) and Yale (Saturday, Oct. 28).

Penn will make one final road trip to the Empire State to face Columbia (Friday, Nov. 3) and Cornell (Saturday, Nov. 4), before wrapping up the regular season at home with Harvard (Friday, Nov. 10) and Dartmouth (Saturday, Nov. 11). For the second year, the Ivy League's regular-season champion will host a four-team Ivy League Tournament the weekend of Nov. 17-19 to determine the league's NCAA Championship bid.
