PHILADELPHIA – The University of Pennsylvania lacrosse programs continued their award season on Tuesday, as
Sam Handley and
Niki Miles were both named PhillySIDA Academic All-Area Performers of the Year for their respective sports.

Additionally,
Anna Brandt and
Izzy Rohr were named to the women's Academic All-Area team while
Piper Bond made the men's team. Â

The team is voted on by the athletic communications offices of 30 institutions from the Philadelphia metropolitan area. To be eligible for Academic All-Area, an athlete must be in his or her second year at the institution and hold a cumulative grade point average of 3.30 or better.

Earning the award for the second consecutive year, Handley completed another special season in his final campaign wearing the Red and Blue. He led the Quakers with a team-high 55 points, 30 goals and 24 assists, while registering three game-winning goals. Handley concluded his career with the fourth-most points in program history (194), the fifth-most assists (90) and the sixth-most goals (104). The three-time unanimous first-team All-Ivy selection and three-time consensus first-team All-American was named a semifinalist for the Tewaaraton Award this year and was drafted fourth overall in the PLL Draft by Chrome Lacrosse Club in May.

Miles shot onto the offensive scene this year for the Quakers, leading the Ivy League and ranking 14th in the nation in goals with 63, a new single-season program record. With 78 points, she ranked fifth in a single season in program history, while moving into the top 20 for a career in points (118) and goals (81). She was named unanimous Ivy League Attacker of the Year and first-team All-Ivy, while earning first-team All-Region by the IWLCA and honorable mention All-America by Inside Lacrosse.
