Zhu (Performer of the Year) and Graziani Earn PhillySIDA Academic All-Area Recognition

PHILADELPHIA – University of Pennsylvania men's tennis players Kevin Zhu and Edoardo Graziani were named to the PhillySIDA Academic All-Area Men's Tennis Team Monday afternoon, with Zhu earning Academic All-Area Performer of the Year honors.

The team is voted on by the athletic communications offices of 30 institutions from the Philadelphia metropolitan area.

In order to be eligible for Academic All-Area, an athlete must be in his or her second year at the institution and hold a cumulative grade point average of 3.30 or better.

Zhu was the 2022 Fall Northeast Super Regionals Doubles champion alongside Graziani, the first Regionals/Super Regionals champions in Penn men's tennis history. During the Spring, he was additionally named first-team All-Ivy in doubles, second-team All-Ivy in singles, and Academic All-Ivy.

Graziani also earned first-team All-Ivy doubles and second-team All-Ivy singles honors this Spring.

Both Graziani and Zhu were also members of Penn's 2019 ECAC Indoor Championship team as well as last year's team which made history by earning the program's first NCAA Team Championship bid. The two made additional history this Spring, becoming the first Quakers to compete in the NCAA Doubles Championship, advancing to the Round of 16.

Zhu and Graziani are joined on the Academic All-Area team by Thibault Frumholz of Temple, Hannibal Borg and German Lopez Andujar of Thomas Jefferson, and Chestnut Hill's João Sousa.
