PHILADELPHIA – The University of Pennsylvania men's tennis team took down No. 31 Princeton in the Ivy League opener on Saturday at the Hecht Tennis Center, 4-3.
 
The Quakers got off to a hot start as they secured the doubles point with wins by Manfredi Graziani and Aaron Sandler at one, and Nischal Spurling and Shaurya Bharadwak at three.
 
However, the Tigers would fight back as they immediately tied the match with a victory in the one spot for Paul Inchauspe.
 
Freshman Adam Bain got the Quakers back in the lead as he took down his opponent in the six spot in two sets.
 
Princeton responded once again, tying the match, this time 2-2, as the match got tight.
 
Vojtech Vales had to fight back from being down 1-0 in the first set, persevering and winning the last two sets giving the Quakers the third point.
 
With the match all knotted up 3-3, it came down to Penn's Justin Chung and Princeton's Milan Markovitz at four.
 
Chung won a tough first set, 7-5 before Markovitz gutted out a 7-6 victory in the second set, setting the stage for a highly anticipated third set.
 
Chung was dominant in the third set, winning 6-1, and securing the impressive win for the Quakers.
