GOIN' DANCIN'! WLAX Heads To Boston, Plays UConn In NCAA Championship First Round

PHILADELPHIA – WE ARE DANCING! For the 16th time in program history, the University of Pennsylvania women's lacrosse team is headed to the NCAA Championship.

On Sunday night, the NCAA selection committee announced that the Quakers are headed Boston this weekend to take on UConn in the first round of the Championship. The game is set for this Friday on the campus of third-seeded Boston College at 1 p.m.

Penn is making its first appearance in the NCAA Championship since 2019 but is no stranger to success in the postseason. The Quakers have advanced to the quarterfinals six times in program history, pushed into the national semifinals twice, and made it all the way to the championship game in 2008.

The Quakers earned their 16th appearance to the championship after battling past Yale in overtime on Sunday afternoon in Penn Park, 15-14, to secure the Ivy League's automatic bid.

UConn, who Penn has never played in program history, enters the Championship with a 12-6 record this season that includes a 5-2 mark in the Big East. The Huskies earned an at-large bid to the postseason after falling 11-6 to Denver in the Big East Tournament championship game on Sunday.

The winner of Friday's Penn-UConn game will advance to Sunday's second round where they'll play the host Eagles at 1 p.m.
