PHILADELPHIA – The University of Pennsylvania women's tennis team was shut out in a 4-0 Ivy League loss against Columbia on Sunday at the Hamlin Tennis Center. The Quakers lost the doubles point and three straight singles matches as the Lions earn the Ivy League victory in University City on Sunday afternoon. The Quakers are now 11-6 overall and 1-2 in the Ivy League.
Columbia opened the afternoon with a 6-0 doubles win at #3 doubles and clinched the early 1-0 lead with a 6-2 win at #2 doubles.
Iris Gallo and
Maya Urata were tied 4-4 in their doubles match when it was abandoned.
Nine singles sets were finished and Penn managed just one set win over six courts. Urata claimed a 7-6(1) victory to open her match at #4 singles and was tied 2-2 when her match was abandoned. Columbia took singles wins at #6, #1, and clinched the match victory with a win at #3 singles.
