#15 Women's Lax Hits Road For Ivy Bout At Brown

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The No. 15 University of Pennsylvania women's lacrosse team is riding high after sealing up the top seed in the Ivy League tournament on Wednesday night, looking to remain the only undefeated squad in the conference on Saturday at Brown.

SERIES AGAINST BROWN
*The Quakers are 32-9 in program history against the Bears, currently on a 17-game win streak that dates to the 2004 season.
 
*Penn is 14-6 when playing at Stevenson-Pincince Field, including winning the last eight games there.
 
*The Quakers average 10.51 goals per game against Brown, totaling 431 since the first matchup in 1980.
 
LAST TIME WE MET
*The Quakers last saw the Bears during the 2022 season, rolling to a 13-7 victory at Franklin Field.
 
**Penn and Brown were tied at halftime, 5-5, and again at 6-6 before the Quakers scored seven of the game's final eight goals.
 
*Penn outshot Brown, 32-23, and won the draw control battle, 13-11.
 
*Maria Themelis scored her first hat trick as a Quaker. Her three goals came in a span of 5:20 in the second quarter.
 
*Kaitlyn Cumiskey, Madison Jiranek, Niki Miles, and Taylyn Stadler all scored two goals against the Bears. Miles, Stadler, and Jiranek also provided the team's four assists of the game.

*Brown has won two conference games so far this season: vs Harvard (11-6) and vs Columbia (19-8).
 
*The Bears average 11.83 goals per game, sixth in the Ivy League, led by Annie Burton with 23 goals through 12 games.
 
*Emmie Lau is second in the Ivy League in caused turnovers per game (1.50), and second in draw controls per game (5.25).
 
*Brown ranks second in the Ivy for assists per game with 5.67, only behind the Quakers who sit first with 5.92.
 
*The Bears rank second in the Ivy League for draw controls per game with 14.83.
 
PENN'S LAST TIME OUT
*The Quakers earned their 14th conference title in program history on Wednesday night at Franklin Field, cruising past No. 24 Princeton, 15-9.
 
*The title is the 12th under head coach Karin Corbett, and the first for the Quakers since 2018.
 
*Four Quakers had four-point performances led by junior Maria Themelis with four goals. It's her fourth game in the last seven games with four goals, as she has 25 for the season and has scored in the last 11 games.
 
*Senior Niki Miles posted a hat trick of finishes to go with an assist, as she extends her scoring streak to 14 games. She continues to lead the team in points and goals this year with 48 and 39, respectively.
 
*Senior Kennon Moon and sophomore Erika Chung wrapped up the four-point performances, each sending out three assists and adding a goal. Chung leads the team in assists this year with 26, sending out at least one in the last six contests.
 
*Penn won the draw game, 17-11, paced by sophomore Anna Brandt and Miles with six each while junior Aly Feeley added three.
 
*The Quakers held one of the top scoring teams in the league to just nine goals, the lowest total for the Tigers this season. Much of that can be credited to a strong backline and senior Kelly Van Hoesen in the net.
 
*Penn caused seven turnovers including a game-high three by senior Izzy Rohr, who also added a game-high four ground balls.
 
*Back in the net, Van Hoesen earned her ninth win of the year, making eight saves in 60 minutes of work.
 
 
NOTES
*With Penn's victory against Brown, they sealed up the top seed in the Ivy League tournament the first weekend in May. As the top seed, the Quakers will host the tournament in Penn Park.
 
*The Quakers lead almost every offensive category in the Ivy League: goals per game (14.15), assists per game (5.92), points per game (20.08), shots per game (33.69), and shots on goal per game (25.62).
 
*On the other side of the field, the backline and Van Hoesen boast the second-best goals-against average in the league at 10.66.
 
*Miles ranks second in the Ivy League with 3.00 average goals per game, sitting with a team-high 39 goals. She also is third in the conference in points per game (3.69), totaling a team-high 48.
 
*Miles is fifth in the country for shots on goal per game (6.08).
 
*Chung ranks second in the Ivy League with 2.00 average assists per game, leading the squad with 26 this season.
 
*Defensively, Rohr leads the league in caused turnovers per game (1.54), while Sophie Davis is second in ground balls per game (2.46). Rohr isn't fair behind Davis in the same category, sitting fourth with 2.23.
 
*Van Hoesen ranks third in the league in goals-against average (10.61) with over 780 minutes of protection.
 
*Corbett is in her 24th season at the helm, owning 249 of the program's 402 wins.
