PRINCETON, N.J. – The University of Pennsylvania women's rowing team completed racing at the Ivy Invitational on Sunday. After having Saturday shortened due to inclement weather, all six of the Quakers' boats raced twice on Sunday and had good success with six wins across the 12 races including a pair of wins for both the Varsity and Second Varsity Eights.

Varsity Eight
Penn's tenth-ranked boat got a nice win in its first race on Sunday, solidly defeating No. 9 Virginia and No. 16 Rutgers. The Quakers were timed in 6:15.262 over Lake Carnegie's 2,000-meter race course. That was exactly four seconds ahead of the Cavaliers (6:19.626) and nearly seven seconds clear of the Scarlet Knights (6:22.124).
In the second session, the Quakers clocked 6:22.839 and won their three-boat race by nearly five seconds over second-place Columbia (6:28.965). USC's 17th-ranked Varsity Eight was third in the race in 6:30.965.
Second Varsity Eight
Penn dominated its first race on Sunday, clocking 6:19.079 which was more than 11 seconds ahead of second-place UVA (6:30.597) and more than 16 seconds clear of Rutgers (6:35.355).
The domination continued into the second session, as Penn clocked 6:31.966 in that race and beat second-place USC by nearly 13 seconds, the Ladies of Troy clocking 6:44.440. Columbia was third in 6:47.272.
Varsity Four
Penn took second place in its first race on Sunday. Virginia got the win in this race, clocking 7:07.440. That was nearly nine seconds ahead of the Quakers (7:16.260), while Rutgers was third in 7:21.060.
The Quakers were also second in their second race, this time clocking 7:30.579 and finishing a little more than four seconds behind the race winner USC (7:26.099). Columbia was a distant third, in 7:44.337.
Second Varsity Four
This boat also raced Virginia and Rutgers in its first race on Sunday and came up a competitive third. UVA won the race in 7:14.430, while the Scarlet Knights were second (7:16.306) and the Quakers were third (7:23.306).
Penn rebounded to win its second race on Sunday. The Quakers clocked 7:25.929 on the Carnegie course and defeated Columbia (7:31.297) by more than five seconds. Rutgers was third in 7:38.141.
Third Varsity Eight
Penn took second in its first row of the day, a four-boat race against UVA, Rutgers and Cornell. The Cavaliers got the win, clocking 6:37.680, while the Quakers were second in 6:55.980. That was nearly seven seconds ahead of third-place Rutgers (7:02.120) and well clear of the Big Red (7:09.700).
The second row was a success, the Quakers winning a four-boat race with Columbia, Cornell and Rutgers. Penn's time was 6:51.609, a little less than three seconds ahead of the Lions (6:54.309). Rutgers was third in 7:06.285 while Cornell was fourth in 7:10.087.
Fourth Varsity Eight
The Quakers went head-to-head with Rutgers twice on Sunday. In the first race, the Scarlet Knights nipped Penn but just more than a second, clocking 7:02.205 to the Red and Blue's 7:03.321. In the second, Rutgers clocked 6:59.203 and finished a little more than two seconds ahead of Penn (7:01.973).

Penn will be at the Lake Wheeler Invitational next Friday and Saturday. The two-day event will be hosted by N.C. State in Raleigh, N.C.
