PHILADELPHIA – The University of Pennsylvania crews wrapped up fall racing on Sunday at the Princeton Chase. The three-mile, head-style racing took place on Lake Carnegie.

The women competed in the Eights on Sunday morning, by far the biggest field of the day as 62 boats were entered and 60 raced. The Quakers' 'A' boat posted the tenth-best time while their other three boats went 21st, 22nd and 23rd in clocking within five seconds of each other.

"The team had a solid performance and enjoyed racing at The Chase," said Penn's head coach, Bill Manning. "We didn't boat up a true 1V as we focused on providing opportunities for more athletes to demonstrate their capabilities and this contributed to mixed results—our 'A' Boat had a decent row but didn't demonstrate the speed we'll need this spring. The other three boats had strong or very strong and promising results.

"We have a terrific group of athletes capable of achieving success this spring," he continued. "We need to both keep the momentum of a large group challenging each other and we need a true top end to emerge. November is a wonderful month on the Schuylkill, so we'll do more sculling and small boat work this month and maintain our commitment to building our aerobic base and working together."
